A Story by Alan B.
"

Thoughts from a view.

"
I am being; a small inconsequential dot on a small inconsequential, rotating sphere. And why a sphere? What is this planetoidal obsession with roundness? Squares and octagons and triangles would have been interesting. But uniformity is key to order, to community. Circular shapes mean circular thoughts. Thinking outside the box doesn't mean anything when the box is in the circle. Some of us, though, have broken through the gravitational field; and when you do that, (if you do that), you are not just different, but alien and of alien geometry.

You are an incomprehensible paradox of being in which you are them but also this Other. Such a thing is unacceptable in the logic of circles. So, as I sit and watch the willow tree's leaves sparkle and sway in the afternoon sun, there is no other way to proceed but to be a kind of cosmic scientist, observing the morbidly fascinating behavior of beings who have no sentience.
