"You need to see the world as it is, Vincent," said John matter-of-factly on his last visit, now a month past. But the problem was that Vincent did see it as it was; it was John and everyone else that saw it as it wasn't. Vincent saw the world as it was from his room on the second floor of his house when he looked down onto Main Street, where cars passed in irregular patterns, and people walked up and down in much the same way, all showing their particular pathologies and neuroticisms in their gaits, their stares, the way their arms swung.
They would all purport to see the world as it was, yet by their movements alone it was clear that they desperately clung to the way it wasn't.
All this could be seen by the simple act of looking through the window of a room on the second floor of a certain house on Main Street on any day of the week.
The misunderstood individual caged by birds that think flying is an illness (Jodorowsky reference).
Well they all certainly seem to become cloned and pushed by certain expectations and doubts. But the visionary is the main stain that needs to be erased. Well, life will recall those colonies until you let the colonies of ideas march out of you.
Great work. It perfectly reflects the issue of being stucked in an environment that doesn't share your outlook on life. Kudos! :)

Jeannette, your language is beautiful and I wish I could express myself like that.

My comment seems insignificant now, you have said everything.
But I also loved it. To me, it more reflects the un-illusionment (is that a word?) of an individual regarding the society he lives in, which is subtly different in my mind.
But that speaks great things about your piece, Alan. Two people with probably very different writing styles (judging by our language) can both read and love your piece, but with different interpretations. This is a perfectly balanced, intelligent work. Kudos :)
