Time

Time

A Poem by Aly

The day we met
I had no impression
You didn't know me.
I didn't know you.
Over time my heart began to beat fast.
You were the new name I spoke
Over and over in my mind.
The image of your face
Never leaves my mind.
Time passes by
The seasons take place
I wondered how this person
Who once walked beside me
Could break my trust
Your presence still lingers all around me.
I feel it as you stare at me.
If you could take it back
Would you?
Or would you be another picture I have to burn.
I knew the risk of possibly maybe falling for you.
Now our memories will slowly fade away.
But not if we choose to hold on.
I know I am slowly fading away from your mind.
As the process is beginning with mine.

Author's Note

Aly
I know there is a better title for this other than "Time" but it's all I could think of.
I was inspired by some songs "A Thousand Years" "Torn" -Glee Cast Version and Linger by the Cranberries. And of course my inspiration came from me and my own experience that I have chosen to write and share with you. Thank you.

The image the slaps my mind is two people dancing on a floor in a club, any club in where ever America. Each movement is a corresponding mental beckoning to the other. Now if that was the attention or just my own crazy thinking, we shall leave that to you. But what I liked about this was how you project the passion that is unspoken but thought.

Nice

In the relationship you describe the effect of love and time, the two biggest concepts on peoples minds comes across in an interchangeable way, like they play off of each other in a bitter interplay. This feels very natural - brilliant writing as usual

young love is beautiful, however, talk to any old woman and she will tell you this. for the most part it is entirely hormonal for young boys....i don't want to burst any bubbles here, but young men think almost entirely with their hormones...once they get "the prize" they will be on their way. this is beautifully written and i felt the pain. i hope that the writer will take some knowledge away from the experience.

thank you.
The two of you were like grains of sand brushing against each other on a vast beach. He touched your life, and you touched his. But in time, the ocean sweeps him away, and you are left with nothing but memories, and even those fade with time.

You gave him memories of you. And that's enough.

True.....
These lines are sad yet beautiful...."I know I am slowly fading away from your mind.
As the process is beginning with mine."

I loved the way you said it all here.
