Episode Thirteen: Wedding Bell Blues (Part 2)

NOTE TO THE READERS: I am very proud of this Episode. It felt like the early episodes of the show. I feel like I did a good job ending it the way it should have. Thank you to all who are fans and keep reading my show. 

I'm excited to start Season 2.

Episode Thirteen: Wedding Bell Blues (Part 2)

SCENE ONE: NEW YORK CITY COURT HOUSE.

Amanda: (leans over to Kiera) Are you okay?

Kiera: (looks from Chandler and Gwen and shakes her head)

Jessie: (squeezes Kiera’s hand and softly whispers) Together remember?

Kiera: (nods)

 

Chad Montgomery hugs Chandler and greets his new daughter in law. Nathaniel and Lydia Masen hug their new son in law. The families talk while the friends gather.

Jake: So we’re all going in my car right?

Jessie: What my car? We drove here.

Jake: Alright we’ll go back to the apartment, drop up your car, and we’ll all go in mine. We can all easily fit.

Andrew: What about Chandler?

Jake: Chandler has his own car and Gwen is riding with him.

Andrew: Alright well we better get going.

 

Jake pulls up to the apartment building.  Jessie walks over to his car.

Jessie: I’m sorry but I forgot my purse I’ll be right back!

Jake: (sighs) alright.

Andrew is sitting in the passenger seat of the car, and Amanda and Kiera are in the back. Jake glances at Amanda now and then. Amanda and Kiera are quietly whispering.  Kiera starts sniffling again.

Jake: Hey you alright?

Amanda: She’s fine.

Kiera: No I’m not!

Jake: What’s..?

Kiera: Everyone’s gonna know soon anyway. Might as well just say it. I’m pregnant! 

Jake: Whoa!

Amanda: Kiera!

Kiera: Well there bound to find soon.

Andrew: (turns around to look at them) You’re pregnant!

Jake: Well whose the father?

Kiera opens her mouth, Amanda shoots her a look.

Kiera: I’m not saying.

Jessie enters the car and sits by Kiera.

Jessie: Okay! I’m ready!

Andrew: Kiera’s pregnant!

Jessie is stunned by Andrew’s comment. Everyone is looking at her. Jessie pretends to be shocked.

Jessie: What the what?! Kiera?!

Kiera and Amanda shoot her a look.

Jesse: (rolls her eyes and waves her hands dramatically) Oh alright alright.

Andrew: You knew?

Jessie: Yes I knew.

Andrew: First the egg now this!

Amanda looks at Andrew and Jessie with a confused face.

Jake: Whose the father?

Andrew: Yeah! Who is the father?

Amanda: That’s none of your business.

Jake: That means you know who it is.

Andrew: Do we know him?

Jessie: Of course you know him! It’s Chandler!

Amanda: Jessie!

Kiera: Well I guess the cat's outta the bag on that one.

Jake: Oh no…

Andrew: Chandler? But…(shocked face) You were the girl he slept with! When we were in The Hamptons!

Jake: That was you ?

Kiera: Yes! Okay!

Jake: You need to tell him.

Kiera: No I don’t.

Jake: Yes you do. That’s his baby Kiera!

Kiera: Doesn’t matter! He’s married to that blonde!

Andrew: Gwen?

Kiera: Yes. Gwen. (she snares at that word)

Amanda: Calm down.

Jessie: I think she’s okay. I don’t think Gwen that much either.

Andrew: I don’t think any of us do.  Any of you like her?

Jake: I don’t really know her…

Jessie: She’s pretty private..

Amanda: Not very friendly.

Jessie: Even while we were helping her with wedding stuff, she didn’t say much.

Andrew: So what are you gonna do Kiera raise the baby on your own?

Kiera: Pretty much.

Jake: I still say you should tell him.

Kiera: Will you just drive. Please?

SCENE 2: THE RECEPTION. 

Everyone is there. Many seats are filled. People are dancing, eating, and chatting. Chandler and Gwen sit with their families. Jake,Andrew,Jessie,Amanda, and Kiera are sitting in their own table. No one is talking.

Andrew: This is very…awkward…

Jake: This week cannot any more dramatic…

Amanda: Shh! No one say anything.

Jake: He has a right to know.

Amanda: It’s her decision.

Jake: (Slumps back his chair)

Chad Montgomery speaks into a microphone. He is holding a glass

Chad: Hello everyone. I uh. I thank you for coming. Um. I love my son Chandler. I’m happy he met a lovely girl to marry. Years ago, our family lost a very important member. My wife Karri, she passed away when my sons were just sixteen. I know Karri would have loved to be here. To Chandler and Gwen. Son, may you always have happiness.

Everyone: To Chandler and Gwen!

Glasses clink. Everyone drinks.

 A man speaks into the microphone

Man: Hi I uh. I’m Carter. Carter Montgomery. I’m the twin brother of Chandler. I’m glad to be here today and I wasn’t there when Chandler and Gwen got married, I didn’t make it in time. But Chandler, and 

Gwen. I hope you’re both very happy.

 

Many others speak including Jake,Andrew,Amanda,Jessie, and Kiera.  Nathaniel and Lydia speak, the final to speak is Chandler.

Chandler: Hello everyone. Thank you for being here.  I appericate it. I epsically appericate my best friends, Jake, Andrew, Amanda, Jessie and Kiera for being here today it means a lot. (he looks towards the parents) Mister and Missus Masen, I promise you I will love Gwen forever. (he looks at his Dad) Dad, after mom died things were hard, but thank you for being strong when me and Carter couldn’t. And I know Mom would have given anything to be here today.  Thank you everyone for coming.

Everyone: To Chandler and Gwen

 

Jake is standing by the bar. Andrew comes up to him.

Andrew: Hey.

Jake: Hey

Andrew: You’re not drinkin’?

Jake: I’m the driver.

Andrew: Oh yeah.

Jake is looking at Amanda is who happily dancing with someone. Jake reaches for his water and stares. 

Andrew looks to where he is staring.

Andrew: (nudges Jake) Go get her.

Jake: Here?

Andrew: Why not? Single guys go to Weddings all the time for this reason.

Jake: (smiles)

Andrew: This is your chance remember?

Jake: (sighs) Maybe.

Andrew: C’mon don’t be like Kiera and wait til the last minute when it’s already too late.

Jake: It’s not to late for her to tell Chandler.

Andrew: (sighs) My point is. You. Jake, are waiting for someone to take care of it for you. Instead of 

waiting for fate. Why don’t you become fate?

The songs ends and everyone claps for the band. Andrew nudges him again. Jake looks from him to 

Amanda.  Jake walks over. Amanda is looking around and sees him and smiles.

Amanda: Hi

Jake: Hey

Amanda: Having a nice time?

Jake: Yeah it’s not bad.

Another song begins.

Jake looks at Amanda. 

Jake: Would you like to dance?

Amanda: (smiles) Sure.

 

Chandler and Gwen are dancing.

Chandler: We can basically go anywhere?

Gwen: Mm-hmm. My parent’s gift to us.

Chandler: Maybe we can go to California

Gwen: Or Fuji

Chandler: Fuji? Really?

Gwen: I kind of suggested it to my Dad, and he offered to pay for it.

Chandler: Now that is generous.

Gwen: (smiles)

Chandler: (smiling) Hey

Gwen: What?

Chandler: I love you.

Gwen: (smiles) I know you do.

 

Amanda: Can you believe this is real?

Jake’s thought: Not even close…

Jake felt nervous but managed to keep cool about it.

Jake: Can I believe what’s real?

Amanda: Chandler getting married.

Jake: (sighs) Not even close.

Amanda: This has to be the craziest thing in the history of Weddings.

Jake: It probably makes the top three.

Amanda: Or it’s just number one.

Jake: (smiles) Yeah.

 

Jake and Amanda are silent for a little while.

Jake: Hey so…

Amanda: So?

Jake:  You look beautiful.

Amanda: Thank you. You don’t look to bad yourself.

Jake’s thought: Not as good as you

Jake: (he smiles) Thank you.

 

Amanda: Jake

Jake: Yeah?

Amanda: (licks her lips before speaking) I still have feelings for you.

Jake: (surprised. But smiles) I feel the same way.

They are smiling at each other.

Amanda kisses Jake.

 

 

Kiera is outside sitting on a chair. Andrew comes outside.

Andrew: Hey

Kiera: Hey

Andrew sits by her.

Andrew: How come you’re not inside?

Kiera: I don’t want to be around happiness right now.

Andrew: You know. If you want too…and Jessie is totally cool with this by the way. Well actually it was her idea but anyway.  You could say it’s mine.

Kiera is looking at him

Kiera: Really?

Andrew: Yeah. Yeah. Jessie’s cool with it.

Kiera: (laughs) Thanks. I’ll. Uh. I’ll keep that in mind, haha.

Andrew: I’m cool with it too.

Kiera: Thanks Andrew.

Andrew: Yeah no problem. I uh. I just want you to know. It might not seem like it. But we all support 

you.Including me and Jake.

Kiera: (smiles) Thanks. That means a lot.

Andrew: (smiles back) It’s gonna be awkward.

Kiera: Oh yeah totally.

Andrew: But hey we’re family.

Kiera: Thank you.

Andrew puts his arm around Kiera and hugs.

 

SCENE 3: Chandler and Gwen leave the reception in Chandler’s car. Everyone is waving goodbye to them. 

Jake,Andrew,Amanda,Jessie, and Kiera all stand together.

Jake: So much has happened.

Andrew: All in 5 days.

Amanda: The rest of this summer might be crazy.

Jessie: Why?

Andrew: We’re all together. Literally haha.

Kiera: Andrew and Jessie are moving in (she says it with a smile)

Jake holds Amanda’s hand.

Amanda: Jake and I are together.

Kiera: Finally!

Andrew: Finally!

Jessie: Finally!

Jake and Amanda laugh.

Kiera: My mom will be coming to live with me.

Everyone nods.

Jake: Well I don’t know about you, but I’m ready to go home.

Kiera: I’m ready. I’m tired. I might just sleep in the car.

Andrew: I’m surprised I’m not drunk.

Jessie: That’s because you didn’t drink.

Andrew: I didn’t?

Jake: No.

Andrew: Oh okay. Well. Let’s go home.

 

Everyone walks towards the car. They drive away from Maryland to New York City.
