Episode Nine: Then She Appeared (Part 2)

NOTE FOR THE READERS: Those of you who read Part 1, I changed the name from Quinn to Gwen. It was orginally Gwen, but I changed it because I thought she should be more of a Quinn. But I've changed it back to Gwen. Don't worry it's on Part 1 as well. 

Episode 9: Then She Appeared (Part 2)

Gwen is clearing the table and Chandler helps. He puts the plates in the sink and she is putting other things away. Chandler is looking around her apartment. Gwen walks over to him as he looking at a painting.  Gwen smiles and speaks

Gwen: I painted that. First painting I ever did.

Chandler: (Looks from her to the painting and points) This? Wow.

Gwen: (looks at him) You don’t have to say it like that.

Chandler: No. It’s. It’s good (He turns to look at her) really.

They both look at the painting

 

Chandler: How much? (While still staring at it)

Gwen: (shocked face) What?

Chandler: (Looks at her) How much is the painting?

Gwen: (shakes her head as she speaks) Oh Chandler, you don’t have too.

Chandler: I want too.

Gwen: (looks from him to the painting.) Take it. No cost.

Chandler: Oh no. I am here in an Artist’s home, It’s only fair to buy.

Gwen: Chandler "

Chandler: (is taking out his checkbook and starts writing and hands her the check)

Gwen: (looks at it,) A hundred dollars?

Chandler (gently lifts it up from the wall, and sets it on the floor) Yes.

Gwen: Chandler (holds the check out to him) I can’t take this

Chandler: Yes you can.

 

Gwen still holding out the check, puts it in her pocket. Chandler smiles and takes her hands.

Chandler: Relax. We’re not complete strangers you know?

Gwen: (smiles and looks at him) Right. Complete strangers don’t have dinner together.

Chandler: Well some do.

Gwen: Complete strangers usually ride their bikes to find someone.

Chandler: (laughs) And collapse on their floor.

Gwen and Chandler are in a hugging position, with heads leaned in and looking at each other.

Chandler: What else do complete strangers do or don’t do?

Gwen: (Shrugs)

Chandler: Well I know a lot of things complete strangers don’t do.

Gwen: Like what?

Chandler: Like this.

Chandler leans in close to Gwen, and kisses her.

 

 

Scene 2:

Jake and Andrew are in the apartment and are asleep as Chandler comes in. The TV is still on. A newscaster reporting, Chandler is putting his coat away and he puts keys on the counter.  He goes over to Andrew and Jake and wakes them up, by clanking their heads together.

 

Andrew: What the?!

Jake: What the heck Chandler!

 

Chandler sits by them.

Chandler: Hello Sleeping Beauties.

Jake: What the heck, Chandler!

Chandler sits by them. Andrew is rubbing his head.

Andrew: Sheesh. Man I was having a really good dream too.

Jake: (sighs) So how’d it go? (Jake is looking at Chandler)

Chandler: (smiles) It went really well. ( pats Andrew and Jake on the back) C’mon! (he gets up and turns back) I have to show you something.

Jake and Andrew get up and follow him to the door and see a painting.

Andrew: What is that?

Chandler: This is a painting. Gwen painted it. ( he is grinning now) I bought it from her.

Andrew: (with raised eyebrows)  How much did you pay her?

Chandler: Not a lot.

Andrew: (in a annoyed voice) Chandler…

Chandler: A hundred dollars.

Andrew: A hundred? (shocked face) Chandler! That was our rent money!

Chandler: What? Drew, it came from my account.

Andrew: Chandler we needed that the money.

Chandler: It’s only a hundred dollars!

Andrew: Money for the rent!

 

Chandler and Andrew begin yelling and shouting

 

Jake: Alright. (he steps in between them) Knock it off.  Look. (Jake reaches into one of his pockets and pulls out a couple of dollar bills) Look here’s the rent money. On me. No one pays me back alright?

Chandler: Jake "

Andrew: (grabs the money and starts counting)

Chandler: Drew!

Jake: (holds his hand up) It’s alright. Hey, how’d it go with Gwen?

Chandler: (sighs then relaxes) It went well.  It went well.

Jake: Did you kiss her?

Chandler: (smiles) Yeah I did.

Jake nods then hits him upside the head.

Chandler: Ow!

Jake: So how did the rest of the date go?

Chandler: Man…I know she’s the one. (He goes over to the couch and sitting.)

Jake and Andrew follow and stay standing, Andrew checks his watch.

Andrew: Well quite the date. It’s two in the morning now.

Chandler: (still smiling) Yeah. I. I’m gonna marry her.

Jake: (leans in and out) We know this.

Andrew: You told us already.

Chandler: (still smiling shakes his head) No I mean soon.

Andrew: Soon? (he says the word as if it is a foreign 

language)

Chandler: Today, I’m gonna buy the ring.

Andrew: Hold it. You don’t have any money.

Jake: (eyebrows raised) You just met this girl! (slaps his hands together) You just had your first date!

Andrew: (shouts) And he doesn’t have any money!

 

Chandler: (just stares) I have never been so sure about anyone in my entire life. (he stands up and walks over to their window. He looks out as he’s talking. ) When my Mom died. I thought I would never be happy again. Then we moved and I met you too. (He looks at them) I’m twenty-one. We have friends already settling down and married. Why shouldn’t I be?

Jake: (walks a little towards him) Chandler. You have time to settle down.

Chandler:  But I’m ready.

Andrew: You just met her.

Chandler: I know. I know. But I just..I feel it guys. I know she’s the one. All my life I’ve been…waiting. Waiting to know. Waiting to meet that girl. And I have. Don’t. Don’t rain on my parade, alright?

Andrew: We’re not trying too. If you feel that strongly then…go for it.

Jake: (looks at Andrew with curious eyes)

Andrew: (pats Jake on the back and gives him a reassuring look) I’m serious.  If you’re so sure about Gwen. Go for it. Don’t let us stop you.

Jake: (sighs) At least wait a little bit longer

Chandler: (smiling) I can’t promise that.

Andrew: (smiles) Alright. Alright. Let’s bring it in.

All three men hug.

 

Scene 2:

Kiera is asleep and her mother is in the living room on the phone.

Renee: I see. You’ll help everyone else but her. No I understand. Yes.  Well excuse me for trying to bring you closer to your daughter.

Renee slams the phone, and sighs. She rubs her forehead and turns on the T.V. footsteps approach. 

Kiera appears with a blanket wrapped around her.

Kiera: Renee?

Renee looks from the T.V. to Kiera.

Renee: Oh. Honey, I’m sorry did I wake you? Go back to sleep.

Kiera: (moves closer) Who were you talking to?

Renee: (folds her arms) I was just on the phone with your father.

Kiera: (is on the couch she wraps the blanket closer to her) You called Dad?

Renee: (bits her lower lip) Yes. I did. (looks from the ground to the T.V.)

Renee’s eyes stay focused on the T.V. 

Kiera: Mom...I don’t want him in my life.

Renee: He is still your father.

Kiera: How can you be so forgiving? How can you all of people be okay with this?

Renee: (voice a little shaky) Let it go, Kiera.

Kiera sinks back into the couch.

Kiera: Mom.

Renee: (has tears in her eyes) Go to bed, Kiera.

Kiera stares at her.

Renee: ( in a firm voice) Now.

Kiera gets up and walks back to her bedroom.

 

It is morning. 

Chandler is eating cereal. Jake enters the kitchen.

Chandler: Hey.

Jake groans in response

Chandler: Someone did not sleep well. Or after I went to bed you snuck out and got yourself a hangover.

Jake groans again, and looks in the cupboards. Andrew enters rubbing his eyes.

Chandler: Drew!

Andrew: (covers his ears)

Chandler: What is up my man?

Andrew: (in a soft voice) Shh…

Chandler makes a confused face and looks at Jake and Andrew. Jake is quietly shutting a cabinet, and opening up another one.  Chandler stands up, and grabs a phone book and slams it on the counter. Jake and Andrew flinch and groan.

Andrew: Chandler!

Jake: Chandler!

Chandler: I don’t believe this. You too got drunk. Without me!

Jake: Look it’s not a big deal. After you went to bed, we just wanted to get out. Talk. Have some fun.

Chandler: Without me?

Andrew: Of course without you. We were talking about you.

Jake slaps him upside the head. Andrew yelps, and rubs his head.

Chandler: Talking about me?  What we’re you talking about me for? And why without me?

Andrew still rubbing his head, Jake looks from Andrew to Chandler.

Jake: Look, man. We just. We wanted to get out and talk about things. You can’t talk to your friends about everything.

Chandler: (arms folded) So what did you too discuss?

Andrew and Jake look at each other and hesistate.

Chandler grabs the phone book

Andrew: No!

Jake: (hands in the air) No!

Chandler steadily holds the phone book and waits.

Jake: (sighs) It’s nothing new, man. We talked about you and Gwen.

Andrew: We just wanted to talk it out amongst ourselves.

Chandler: Alright.

Jake and Andrew breath in a sigh of relief. They notice Chandler getting his things.

Andrew: W-Where you goin’?

Chandler: (not looking at them) I’m gonna go meet with Gwen.

Jake: Chandler. Buddy. This isn’t about what we’ve said is it?

Chandler: (getting his coat on) Nope. I just have a date with her.

Andrew: Again?

Chandler: (grabbing his keys and heading towards the door) Yes again, and guess what while I’m gone. Think about this. Which came first? The chicken or the Egg?

Chandler opens the door then leaves.

Jake: The chicken or the Egg?

Andrew: I say it was the chicken.

Jake: It’s the Egg.

Andrew: No it’s not.

Jake: (looks at him) Uh yes it is.

Andrew: It has to be the chicken.

Jake: No it has to be the Egg.

Andrew: What makes you so sure. You…you…ding-dong.

Jake: (in the most serious face and serious voice he has) Because this ding dong, actually paid attention in school.

Andrew: (in a serious face) Chicken.

Jake: Egg!

 

Scene 3:

Chandler arrives at Bloomingdales and steps inside he sees a woman paying Gwen. Gwen smiling and saying to the customer “have a nice day” Chandler stops and stares he is smiling as he does so. The woman who paid Gwen walks past him, and Gwen sees Chandler.  Gwen begins to walk over to him, and Chandler does the same.

Gwen: Hi

Chandler: Hi

Gwen: What brings you over here?

Chandler: I was in the neighborhood. (he puts his hands in his pockets.)

Gwen: (looks at him) Really? Over here?

Chandler: Yeah. Well, uh.  Are you busy?

Gwen: I’m kinda at work..does that count as being busy..?

Chandler: (laughs a little) Yeah. Yeah. (licks his lips) You’re right. I’m sorry. I don’t know what I was"

Gwen: (waves her hand) It’s alright. Hey. You okay?

Chandler: (looks from the ground to her) Yeah. I just. It’s nothing.

Gwen walks from him to where she was earlier

Gwen: (yells) Hey Mac!

Mac: (yells back) Yeah?

Gwen: I’m taking a break!

Mac: Ten minutes!

Gwen: Got it!

Gwen looks back at him and puts her arm around him, he automically does the same.

Gwen: C’mon.

Chandler: But"

Gwen: (waves her hand, again.) It’s fine don’t worry about it. C’mon what is it?
