A thousand moments that filled my heart. 

How long do I fantasize

About you and me

I make believe it's enough. 

As I let myself fall hard.

You turned back.

As fell hard, I let my guards down. 

Piece by piece

Is how my heart slowly broke

I know I was simply pretending

Pretending, nothing is wrong

Pretending, when we talk I don't get the sense something is wrong.

I imagine we go back to the start

I keep my falling a secret

Every step i take I feel like I've done something wrong

How could I have fallen so hard

I love how deep, honest and introspective this piece is. It is unapologetic in it's execution, yet the glimmer of a now distant love still remains.

I believe we can all feel this way at times when it comes to love, especially when it doesn't work. Hindsight is 20/20 as they say and I too have wondered sometimes just how I got myself in so deep with someone who didn't return my feelings. This is a wonderful but haunting write. Well done!

This poem contains several elements. You go from regret and remorse to depression and back in a round-a-bout, you let the reader imagine something happy when it's something really bad in disguise, you let the heart of a reader fall right alongside that of the character.
