Honey You're Familiar...

Honey You're Familiar...

A Poem by Isabella Cezanne
"

a poem about remembering

"
this song
triggers a
total recall
of moments
i try so hard
to forget

the beginning
notes
trickling honey
and amber
over memories
that don't feel
real

sunshine filtering
through stretches
of time
that were once
filled to the brim
with fondness

the chorus
reminding me
that the scenes
flashing behind
my eyelids
once made me
as content as
the melody
of this song

despite the blurred
edges around the
memories of my
time with her,
and the heavy
curtains that cover
them

marking them
a thing of
the past

the final
tune casts
a golden colored
tint over these
moments, reminding me
of happiness

just like this song
used to remind me
of her, every time
i listened

Sometimes we recall the good, sometimes something other. Although time has apparently put a haze around the edges of a past relationship here, what comes through is mellow. Hold on to it. It could definitely be worse.
