VisitorA Chapter by writergirl10It was a bright sunny day. The birds were out, and the sun was shining. Mom was making my favorite, macaroni and cheese. Daddy was working outside, my sister was playing the grass with me, and my brother was reading this script for his latest play at school. He’s a drama freak. Anyway, back to the story, I was playing outside when Mom and my sister, Mackenzie, when this man came to me. He asked me, “Ma’am, do you live here?” “Why, yes I do, sir. What business do you have with me?” I tried to be polite. “Ma’am, I have to take you for very important reasons. I have to interview you.” He said. “Wait, can’t we just do it right here?” I ask. “Um, I guess so.” He said nervously. “Sit, in the lawn chair.” I motioned him to come. “So, what is your name?” he asked, starting the conversation. “Andy. I used to be called Andrea, but I want to be called Andy now. But I think I’m going to go back to Andrea, but oh well. When people ask me for my name, I go on and on about my name choice. “So what’s yours?” I asked nervously. “I’m Mr. Bailey. Edgar Bailey.” He said politely. He winced when Daddy was coming out of the shed. “Oh, hey Daddy! Come over here! I want you to meet my new friend!” I yell. He runs over. He looks up and down to check out Mr. Bailey. “Sweetie, Mom wants us for lunch. Why don’t we go inside to wash up?” he said absentmindedly. Instead, he was staring at Mr. Bailey. “Ok, Daddy. Why don’t we invite Mr. Bailey inside?” I suggest. “Well, I think Mr. Bailey has other important stuff to do. Isn’t that right, Mr. Bailey?” he asks, already knowing the answer. “Yes, I do. I would like to talk to you, Andy, sometime.” He walks away. “Good bye!” I yell. He waves. We go inside and Mom looks worried like crap. “Mom? What’s for lunch?” She doesn’t answer. “We’re having grilled cheese.” Mackenzie said. “John, can I see you in the living room for a quick second?” Mom asks absentmindedly. “Sure, Kristen, let’s go.” Daddy says. They go in the living room, and I can hear them. “John, I don’t know about Mr. Bailey. He’s nice, but his son is strange. All his kids are. They’re"very strange. I suspect something unusual when they’re around.” I hear Mom. “Honey, don’t be upset. Andy is fine. She’s a sophomore. His kids won’t mess with sweet little Andy.” He said. I retreat back to the kitchen. I’ve heard of the Bailey kids. They are crazy gorgeous, and they keep to themselves. I hear they got into a movie, and they turned them down! And they’re crazy rich! They have all the money in the world. But they always keep to themselves. They’re not party people. They’re pretty good kids, but they’re strange. “Sweeties, go up to your rooms. We’ll have dinner in our rooms. Everyone meet up in our room.” He said. I race up to my room, and there’s Mr. Bailey. “Mr. Bailey? What are you doing here?” I ask suspiciously. “I’m here to ask you my question that we never got to talk about.” He explained. “Ok, shoot. I trust you.” He sighs a sigh of relief. “Andy, you’ve seen me around town, right?” I nod. “And you’ve seen me with my kids? Well, those kids are dead. They’re living, but they’re vampires. And I want you to be one. You have potential. And, your scent is so powerful; we won’t be thirsty for your blood anymore.” He said. Wow. Mr. Bailey’s a vampire? And he wants me to be one? And his kids are? Wow. I have to soak this all in. “So, you’re a vampire? And you want to make me one too? Why?” I ask. “Well, you’re about to die, anyway, because this house is about to catch on fire. Your mom forgot to take the oven off. And you’re the only potential family member in this house. And, your about the same age as my daughter and son, Veronica and Ethan. They’re really nice, and they go to the same school.” He says. He’s cut off by the sound of alarm. “You’re right! So, what do I do now? Do I go with you or something?” I ask. “Just come with me. Follow me, and don’t say a word.” He says. I do what he tells me. We get outside, and we dive into the forest. He’s a lot faster than me, but then he picks me up and puts me on his back. That way, it’s a lot faster. “We’re here. My home, and about to be yours.” He says. I stare at it. It’s big, beautiful, and very out. It’s not one of those rich, snobby mansions, but it’s big. They don’t have maids and butlers, they clean it themselves. The Baileys’ are high class, but definitely not snobby. They’re nice people. “So, this is your place? This is nice.” I try to say. This is more than nice. It was humongous! Even their pets, a pet dog, (to look human) had his very own little mansion. “Ethan! “Honey! You’re home! Good. I’m really thirsty. Come on, guys. If you’re thirsty, come with me!” I think Cheryl says. “Wait guys. Don’t leave yet. I have a surprise for you, and need some help.” He says. © 2010 writergirl10Author's Note
