Innocent

Innocent

A Poem by fallendemonofmercy
"

Would you kill a child? Would you tell someone - take in into your own hands. One life for another?

"

Winter approached
White as bone,
Bloodless as apathy

A nation grazed
With agonizing disgrace

Sunken and fearful
Weakened by pity
Broken by greed

Deadmans end
Has just begun

When the first lone, starving boy
Was tuned out
Left to die, covered in snow
The harmless, ‘pretty’ snow

How wonderful is it to never know?

I took this with an open mind.....with the contest you entered I had to see where it fit....with as many submissions that I had I was going "bad" crazy for pieces being off track and or too long....but...this hit a place...and I have it in the finals....a very powerful piece...and I thank you for sharing!!

A deep canvas upon which you paint a desolate picture. No, I would not. But many would. Ignorance may be bliss, but it is hard on the stomach in the long run. Wonderful write. Keep 'em coming.
