The True American Mark

The True American Mark

A Poem by Rayne Stanton
"

...

"

Rhythms and beats flowing right through me.

Lyrics and rhymes making up the times.

Clocks and watches dictating our choices

and maps limiting on our minds.

Highways and railways only one destination.

Powers after hours our newest temptation.

True freedoms colors ring out in the dark.

Cheating and repeating, the true American mark.

Fire and aim, truly only one gain.

Desire and lust and undeserved trust.

Wounds feel and wounds heal the battered down brain.

One nation, Indivisible, like hell, we’re all insane.

Prayers and elections and undying devotion.

Big egos and eagles all set into motion.

Like gears and wires and music and spark,

And clocks and maps, the true American mark.

Wow, I really enjoyed reading this! I like how you added a metaphor for every symbol, it flowed very well. I liked how you truly deciphered the meaning of being an American. The patriotism and devotion to this is an amazing job. Great write! :)
