Leap

Leap

A Poem by Rayne Stanton
"

...digest it how you want.

"
I lie in bed and hear the screams
as they pass on through my door
a gunshot sounds
my ears start to ring
and a body hits the floor.

Footsteps come close, I know I'm next
my body starts to shake.
The window's open
and i jump out
and fall to meet my fate.

Cracks and crunches
black and red
the grass cool on my face.
And yet i smile for the touch
to know I'll see another day.
