Winter FairyA Poem by CDEverything is eerily still and quiet The air is clear;morning feigns alive Yet nature lies asleep in chilled bliss Hiding from Winter's cheerlessness Dying roses fade under a sprinkle of icy dust The wind bites visciously and the birds are ahush A Silence settles in around his close friends Cold and Gloom delight in in making the earth cringe The meadow once pleasant and blooming Now lies under a spell of the season fairies' choosing She is Winter herself bearing a wand and a grin Wherever she flutters warmth and happiness ends She dashes the fragrance of lilies sweet Trickling streams freeze beneath her dainty feet Harsh is her magic and quite deadly to some All growing beauty does cease when she comes Vibrant colors of life become only distant memory Stark white and Dismal grey stand unfriendly Creatures of the forest scamper to their dark holes Avoiding day and the foreboding bitter cold The pale faced fairy continues sprinkling without a sound Till a blanket light as feathers lies seeping into the ground No pleading or war can stop her curse She keeps on never resting, ever sure In her own way her beauty does glisten Like drops of water escaping their icycle prison Her peircing blue eyes are alight under frosty black lashes Streaks like lightning run through her coal black tresses Her complexion remains alike to the moon A wry smile is formed on lips as -stark- as tombs The prescence of her opaque wings The mellow tune in whispered tones she sings The gaze from which her satisfaction glows Lets all of nature and life know Gone is Spring's flourish, gone is Summer's glory ,gone is Autumn's cheer Bid new tidings,Winter is here!
