Cold GroundA Poem by K. N. GrafHate - (n.) the emotion of intense dislike; a feeling of dislike so strong that it demands actionThey stood on the cold ground And looked at what they'd done Every fragment of their being Frozen in a still form forever How do you move away from this? Death can change a person forever And what do you tell the others? That you didn't mean for so many to die? But saying that would be a lie A lie right into the faces of the hurting
They now see themselves as hollow No longer able to feel the world around them And why should they be able to? They took away feeling from so many Their actions cannot be reversed The cries of pain and agony will echo forever Forever inside their heads They will have to see the bleeding faces Pictures continually flashing in front of their eyes But they can never share their guilt If they have any guilt at all Because broken families cannot bare to hear What happened to their lost loved ones
They will remain as monsters Terrible monsters in the survivors eyes And that is putting them nicely Because words will never be able to describe Describe the blood slaughter and pain For people merely being themselves But they chose to follow orders From a man so cruel and mean And now they must be taken away Never to be seen again But hopefully they always remember Remember the fateful day They they stood on the cold gournd Where so many died at their hands And people will try to forget them But that can never happen Because how do you erase those memories That continue to flash in your head? © 2010 K.
