Stuck Here Waiting

Stuck Here Waiting

A Poem by K. N. Graf

Standing outside the door

Hoping you'll come out

So I can see your face

And talk to you again

But silent pleas become rejected

You don't know that I'm even there

Cold and on your doorstep

Feeling completely alone

Don't you even love me?

Can't you feel my pain?

My pain of pure rejection

And deliberate turning away

I try to understand what you may be thinking

Try to know what your actions mean

But all I get is more confused

And tired of having to wait

I guess it's not enough

To hope and wish for love

You have to deal with heartache

Before you can get what you want

At times I don't feel strong enough

To keep up with this fight

Of trying to get your attention

And your look of complete like

It doesn't ever seem fair

That I should be alone

That I should be the one waiting

For you to pick up the phone

Once I want to be followed

And talked to with care

I want to know that someone likes me

That someone's really there

But for now I'm stuck here waiting

For you to come to the door

I'm stuck outside with no one

No one to call my own.
