unarmed wall

unarmed wall

A Poem by l'etrangere

Three walls hung high

Built of brick and docile tears

Announced resilience rejected all who came near

Doors laced the walls

Each stationed with prisoners of time

Knocks crashed on as the curtains fell on ears like crime

Screens trapped the doors fixed to the walls

Light shone through, revealing life that traveled without a backward glance

Thoughts and emotions fluttered past and were caught against unnatural mesh of chance

marked footsteps may redeem the use of the unarmed wall.
