darkness

darkness

A Poem by l'etrangere

Shattering cries break the solemn mask of the night.

Darkness, you see, is only fidgeting and running

Creeping upon weary souls drained by the fight

He sees you?

She needs you?

But the potent poison swirls in the pot till the silver glow gleams with victory.

The venom rises up against her throat.

The serpent reels himself and throws her against bare walls.

Yet she hovers midair, where he sees her.

Troubled stares and unspoken thoughts. Bows his head and he walks.

Bones rattle and crack, then slumps her body, fearful not.

Eyes clouded they are, lacking the luster they used to share, Blind she rests with a heart pounding so loud.

Head buried so deeply under his eyes that she forgets, forgets the slippery time.

He kneels and slips away in the dark of the night, and there…

She lay, time ticking till slowly the emptiness falls.
