This is a patriotic poem, that I wrote for a school assignment.

 

 

They come marching

                Hearts filled with strength,

                                Weapons of might

They know that

                Death may take them

                                But they march on,

For you and me they march on,

                Don’t forget them, for

                                They are our friends, families,

           And people you never met,

They are the military, and they march on.

Beautiful tribute to military.. loved the flow of this .. having 2 grandparents as well as others I know who were/are in the military I have nothing but total respect for these men and women! To the many who are overseas right now.. my biggest hope is they march home real soon for their families! These people sacrifice everything in life to protect the people and our nations.. truly devoted! Thank you so much for sharing!!! =)

Once again, you've managed to paint and large and emotion-filled picture in just a few words. And friend, that's what poetry is all about! I like your continual use of "they march on" - repetitive, just like their marching feet. Over and over. And, you've brought a lot of yourself into this poem too; it's quite clear that YOU won't forget them. Great job paying tribute to our brave soldiers!
