My Dead Friend

My Dead Friend

A Poem by R.L. Underwood

I am living in this world alone,

A mess for days,

Awake in the night,

The words singe the back of my mind,

and my mouth wont say much at all,

if there was a way,

to say it all,

then maybe I'd scream so loud that my dead friend could hear me.

I am screaming in my mind alone,

Tired when I should be awake,

Alive when I should be sleeping,

The cuts burn in the hot water,

and the razor only does so much,

If there was a way,

to show it all,

Then I'd bleed so much that my dead friend could see me.

I am hiding in my room crying alone,

Knowing I don't want to be heard,

But wishing so much they would,

Writing things I'll never say,

If there was a way,

To show them all,
Then I'd be crying so hard that my dead friend could catch the tears for me.
