Rolled into one

Rolled into one

A Poem by Renee
"

I always said I wished to die in your arms so, hold me...

"

I cannot
fathom
you still
cold
unmoving
lids shut eternally

My life would be horrid
and the endless torment
of our separation
would chill the blood
that flows vein to vein

We have been a union
forever
and you have become
my strongest limb
my body goes limp
at the thought
of your not being here

I always said I wished
to die in your arms
so hold me
never release me
to wait for death

When it comes
we'll both be prepared
because I won't let you go
without my last breath
on your spirit's window

we've always seen
the ins and outs of love
and death will not
erase our perfect blend

PROMPT:

"and when
you died you took
all the parts
of me
worth taking,
leaving me to the
shadows of
everything you were.

This is why they write
the books
the poems
the songs.

I drink alone
in the morning and
the shadows wait
in every corner
of this house."

The thought of our beloveds passing before we do is the stuff that nightmares are made of. I take comfort in your words.
