a street scene in 20 words.

hanging out
sirens caused us to freeze
the scent of brick pressed our noses

This captures the fear one hears when the police sirens wail. The "scent of brick" like the scent of fear itself. And the helplessness we feel when the law is on the prowl to meet their quota for the day. I like the feeling of being "victim" that it brings to mind. Excellent scene you have craft with so few words.

this is a fantastic play on imagery in short form that crescendos into a full blown scene creating its own story inside the reader's mind!~powerful visual poem!~
