Here's to YouA Poem by J.E. StroudYou tell me that you’re the most depressed person in the entire world but I know that that person just left us, and, statistically speaking, in 40 seconds his successor will leave us, too-will leave us wondering- is rope an object, or an idea? Some people know how and when to save others. I guess I just don’t So I just left you cold with your trophy and hoped that you were stronger than you should have had to be I drove home, with a city on a ridge below me, counting those 40 seconds and hoping that you would still be here. I drove, just wanting to laugh about how we always have to be the best at something and we all have to be so f*****g competitive, even in misery we are not lofty Gods yearning for a temple we are just people yearning for recognition. I, too, have suffered for that title you had given yourself but I clearly did not want to WIN badly enough because I am still here. Trying to think of the right words to say to someone who is no longer loved But I don’t know them. And now I guess I’m the best at ruining moments, so how about you? © 2013 J.E. Stroud |
