Top of their class: Pinoy celebrities who graduated with honors

Celebrities have a busy life �" shooting schedules, appearances, concerts, red carpet premieres �" that people assume they have no time to go to a regular school. But there are some who managed to continue their education and even finish with honors. Here are some artists who shuffled their time between work and school and managed to come out on top:

1. Carla Abellana, Cum Laude, Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, De La Salle University, Manila

As the daughter of 80s matinee idol Rey “PJ” Abellana, it was expected that Carla was to follow suit. However, she made sure that she finished school first, then entered show business right after she graduated. She was given a major project right away by GMA Network, portraying the lead role in the Filipino remake of the Mexican telenovela, “Rosalinda.”

2. Benjamin Alves, Summa Cum Laude, Bachelor of Arts in English Literature, University of Guam

3. Agot Isidro �" Magna Cum Laude, Fashion Buying and Merchandising, New York Fashion Institute of Technology

4. Giselle Sanchez, Magna Cum Laude, Broadcast Communication, University of the Philippines

Even with her mindless and sometimes very foolish stand up acts, comedienne and actress Giselle is nevertheless a very smart lady.

5. Cristine Bersola-Babao �" Cum Laude, Mass Communication, University of the Philippines

6. Paula Peralejo �" Magna Cum Laude, Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy with a minor in Tourism, University of the Philippines (2008)

Maria Elena Paula Peralejo in real life and the sister of Rica Peralejo was a famous teen star during the late 90’s and early 2000’s. She quit showbiz right after the final episode of “Tabing-ilog”, the popular youth-oriented show during the early 2000’s. The show ran for 3 years, and one of the top-rated shows during those times. She left show business for her to focus on her studies.

7. Lea Salonga - Valedictorian, Elementary and High School, OB Montessori

Even at a very young age Lea was already performing on the theater stage, TV and film. She also started her recording career and was a teen star via “That’s Entertainment.” However, in spite of her busy schedule, the international Broadway star and Tony awardee still managed to finish grade school and high school with high honors.
