As If! Alicia Silverstone Compares Her CFDA Gown to the Iconic Dress She Wore in Clueless

If you’ve payed any attention to fashion at all over the past year or so, it should be abundantly clear that the biggest trend right now is all things ’90s, all the time. And there’s no woman who more epitomized that era’s style with her penchant for fuzzy pens, sky-high platforms and next level luxe accessories than Alicia Silverstone as the character Cher in Clueless. On Monday night at the CFDA Awards the actress revived her much-beloved alter ego, wearing a suspiciously similar red prom dresses in uk.

Silverstone attended the ceremony as the date of Christian Siriano, along with actress Selma Blair, wearing a custom creation from the designer featuring braided straps, a flowing skirt and a thigh-high slit. In regard to his double dates for the evening, Siriano enthused, “I love dressing them, They’re just great people. And that’s what you have to have tonight, dates that you love.”

When asked if she follows any fashion rules when it comes to dressing, while there’s no hard and fast guidelines to what she will and won’t wear, Silverstone admitted, “I haven’t worn red in a long time, but red’s fun because it was so iconic with Clueless. I don’t think I’ve worn a red dress since then.”

When asked if the similarity between the two looks was intentional, Siriano confessed, “No, but that’s really good.” Now if only Alicia could swap out that glittery minaudière for a fabulous feathered jacket, it would be perfect.
