Colin won’t dampen couple’s Anna Maria Island wedding

A Story by Etrade Supply Smartphone Parts

While Colin raged outside, Nicole Draxler sat cool, calm and collected in her turquoise cabin at Spinnakers Vacation Cottages.

“It is what it is,” said the 26-year-old bride-to-be, shrugging with a smile.

Joshua Anderson and Nicole Draxler of Minnesota sit in their cabin at Spinnakers Vacation Cottages on Monday, June 6. They will get married Tuesday on Anna Maria Island despite weather from Colin.

Tuesday is her wedding day at the Sandbar Restaurant, where she’ll be tying the knot with her partner of nearly four years, 24-year-old Joshua Anderson. The pair came down to Anna Maria Island from Rochester, Minn., for a destination wedding they made plans for last year.

Anderson proposed to Draxler in February (“Feb. 21, 2015, to be exact,” she adds), writing in icing “Will you marry me?” on French toast, accompanied with the ring and mimosa. Draxler had been expecting something was going to happen.

“He was acting really goofy for about a day or two,” she said of her normally calm fiancé.

What was planned to be nuptials in Minnesota, complete with a wedding party, quickly turned into a quaint, 19-guest list after Draxler learned of a classmate who got married at the Sandbar.

After Thanksgiving, the couple flew down to the Gulf Coast, planned the wedding in just a few hours and were set: a beach theme with turquoise, white, silver and starfish.

Back in November, Draxler and Anderson said the weather was better.

“Seventies and sunny every day,” Anderson said.

Evidence of the weekend sun lightly touched Draxler’s pink shoulders, but she said with changing weather like this, you have to roll with the punches. The ceremony is planned for 5 p.m., but if there’s a stroke of better weather, they’ll get married sooner.

“It’s kind of what we always wanted " well, what I always wanted,” she said. “Aside from the storm, it’s been what I’ve envisioned it to be.”

Besides, the couple said they have seen harsher weather.

“We deal with blizzards every month,” Anderson said.

After the wedding bells ring, the newlyweds will be off to the Bahamas for two weeks.

“I’m sure it’ll be nice weather. Hopefully,” Draxler said. “We’ll see.”
