Oil For Food

A Story by Temporary

If there was unlimited oil we could be making food out of oil which might solve some problems.

The pyramid of life as painted by humans is entirely composed of human needs
The point of view is one hundred percent human without regards to importance
And here in lies the problem where everything is equally important and needed
Maybe in another hundred years we will reach the point of true self sufficiency
We stop sending supplies to the space station the macro size creatures will die
But the microbes will flourish as the plankton on the side of space station might testify
Funny if the plankton covered the windows to get the extra energy sunlight is lacking

The pyramid of life is a misnomer as it is not a pyramid at all but just a big blob
The connections inside the blob appear as billions of pyramids all interconnected
We like the one out of many where we stand on the very top over everything else
Forgetting what is under our view supports our position and can not be taken out
We take out the big creatures and plants and smaller ones always fill the gap
The bigger the gap the smaller the life forms such as microbes that will fill the gap
Some microbes we get along with others we do not but all are needed to fill in the gaps
For who knows who or what will take the space in the empty gap we have created
We are good at creating gaps better known as gaffs or maybe genetic code mishaps

We call the microbes that live in extreme conditions examples of extreme life
While we boast of conquering all environments with suitably designed artificial skins
Lose battery power and a lot more than the lights will go out sounds very extreme
We make algae blooms that take away oxygen killing the fish we like to eat
If left alone the fish might be able to make a comeback thriving once again
But we keep on catching them for dinner before they can even multiply to stay around
As the oceans warm the oxygen changes to other substances that fish can not breath
The methane locked in dirt and water and ice released by the heat will never stop
We could stop using fossil fuels today and to the methane hydrates it would not matter
That train of events has left the station the times they are a changing all aboard

Food is mainly carbon of one sort or another even green or meaty it is all the same
We can use oil, coal and other fuels to make directly into food skipping the fields
That would eliminate smoke and gasses soot and pollutants cleaner skies maybe
Methane is still pouring out of all the seeps and exploding like cannons in the ground
When left alone the oceans stock of fish could make a giant comeback just for us
Round the world growing crops is getting tougher and so the herds might also suffer
Using weeds and algae for paper and wood would let the trees shade the planet
When it is cheaper these things will happen as profits and money always rule the day
