It doesn't matter where all the water is coming from only where it goes
They started to fill in the whole area shown by the passing front lines on the weather maps Could have looked like this before we know the outlines of the storms we looked for patterns Only really big ones use to be completely filled in solid looking liquid mountains in the skies Shaped as an ellipse or circle or oval or just filling in the outlines of any old shape By the frontal lines that creep across the horizon like waves the rain follows the invisible pointers The common wheel shape with a hub and spokes radiating off into the distances The center hub turns as the center of the low pressure zone curls out across the lands The spokes wind round the hub providing waves of precipitation with dryness in between A score of years ago nine inch rain falls started to appear more common flooding rivers and low lands Downpours started and went on and on inch by inch as the measured inches passed the common few Nine inch storms if you graph them over time increased in number and we know the floody results Now the hollow shapes of the storms are filling in the open spaces that gave a nice break in time and flow Some frontal zones cover half the nation on a good day though now it might be not so good Mostly empty of water they travel over the land blowing out across eastern shores into the oceans Well they don't have to be empty outlines any more mere dispersers of needed water for dryish lands With the whole outline filled in clearly seen on the maps new rivers can form in hours and wetter still Then the land dries out hours days or weeks later only waiting for the cycle to start again Melting ice disappears into the clouds but doesn't mix with ocean waters sitting on top as fresh water lakes The government sends out five year voyagers to go where no man has gone before or so it seems In hunt of these fresh water lakes that inhabit the oceans floating on top taking decades to mix in The simple looking oceans actually subdivided into huge currents hotter or colder or deeper or saltier These huge currents slither like snakes through ocean depths diving and surfacing as they seem fit Some take hundreds of years to go round the planet bringing water from older times back to the present Someday we might build fantastic Martian canals to bring the water from the wettest zones to the parched zones Or pump dry fresh water lakes laying on ocean surfaces as a new kind of treasure that we all know it is © 2014 Temporary |
