The Ones I Chose

The Ones I Chose

A Poem by Judy A. Price

The first came along when I was young and innocent.

He stole my innocence.

We were in love with love and selfish as could be.

It lasted for awhile , but wasn't meant to be.

The second came along at a vulnerable time in my life.

It wasn't all good, but he meant a lot to me.

He was kind, sweet and sincere,

Truly a dear.

It wasn't meant to be and it took a toll on me.

It came time to try again- this time someone intervened.

He is the love of my life and he was the one I chose later in my life.

I know he will be the last.  The past is the past.

I've found love that some never find.

I know it- he knows it and our hearts are forever entwined.

Two failed marriages and finally the last. Not perfect by any means but we are soulmates and I know we will keep this alive and thriving.
