Ode To The Skye

Ode To The Skye

A Poem by Amanda Engle
"

Just something we wrote in class at school; done in 20 minutes.

"

What an endless, vast ocean above,
Ranging icy blue to midnight poison.
Swift and flowing as a white dove,
The clouds breaking out behind the sun.

By night as black ink colors the sky,
Often dotted with twinkling diamonds.
A circle encroaching a crescent moon up high,
The after hours; prolongs.

Shining brightness; ever blinding,
As the star of stars rises.
Through the branches; wind winding,
My eyes dance; the horizon entices.

Cool droplets dampen the earth,
Staining the crisp blades of grass.
Mother Nature giving birth,
Sun shining through the window glass.

This put me at ease, like a chant. I liked it very much. xo - D.E.
