West Texas TradgedyA Poem by workscotWritten 10yrs ago about the war tu jour, still goin down today.Et tu,coyotewindless night somewhere down a gravel road,a street light a lonesome home where stray dogs roam out here the earth is still with a clammy chill inside the house a woman rocks candles burn her baby squirms with aching heart she sighs then loudly, the baby cries the spell now broken but her body stiff and oaken can not respond looking down she eyes the pond that her tears have rained down on the wooden floor light years from a war that like a meteor crushed her fragile dreamworld and as the night deepens her mind skirting reason she sees a black bag on the zipper,a tag she sees the name last name is the same as her own with her mind swirling around afraid to touch down on the same dusty ground that will soon be home to the man she felt sure would provide and secure a safe stable place where the lord shares his grace not the hot, barren earth that ends with, the reverse of birth © 2017 workscotAuthor's Note
