A Poem by Wordydistance

A text, the gloom is mounting,

A call, the pain’s surreal,

Your face repeats past counting,

When longing thoughts reveal,

And I haven’t slept for days,

Cause you are all it brings,

The corn about this maze,

Razed by tears for finer things,

Your silhouette is showing,

Silver lining on my wall?

Or some angry thoughts bestowing,

Untimely hope to watch it fall?

There’s nothing worth renewing,

In the past or present tense,

For self-respect is self-pursuing,

Here and now’s the only sense.

If your lips are for returning,

Then bridges are for burning.

Oh hell, you write the difficult stuff.

I don't know quite what to write, except that I've been there, and this one... this reads a little too familiar, in places, of some stuff I've got collecting dust in some notebook or text file somewhere.

My only advice to you would be to get that sleep, for yourself. Get that sleep. The mind's a deep well, isn't it? Flirt with that depth, take a good look down, but good Lord, watch your footing.

Kind of reminds me of the Eagles song Nomore Cloudy Days. Some bridges are better left burned down but my anology of a relationship is there are two beams used from which to build on.Trust and Respect! You can build life together upon them, remove one and things may fall from the bridge deck but within time may be repaired.Lose both beams then you had better be a strong swimmer in a great rapids and strongest current imaginable.I liked your concepts nice poem--------Bill
