~feathers in the grass~A Poem by Tom Sterner#30 from my ~letters from the monastery~ collection~letters from the
monastery~ #30: ~feathers in the grass~
~I am struck by the
feather of your soft reply~ ~Jim Morrison~
~the bluebird carries the sky on his back~ ~Nietzsche~
~we're not in
Wonderland anymore Alice~ ~Charles Manson~
~leave no black plume as a token~ ~Poe~
~bullets &
feathers together~ ~WordWulf ~
~feathers in the grass~
~stones in the
driveway~ ~& cigarette butts~ ~wonder who put ‘em
there~ ~was it the woodpecker~ ~whose incessant
pounding~ ~on the gable of the
house next door~ ~would give anyone
else a headache~ ~I don’t think so~ ~the smallest of those
stones~ ~would be too much for
the woodpecker to carry~ ~& cigarette butts
aren’t its style~
~the coal train on
approach~ ~earthquake of the
snake~ ~growls deep~ ~electromagnetic~ ~four engines in
front~ ~two behind~ ~a hundred &
thirteen cars between them~ ~pushed & pulled~ ~wheels groaning~ ~riding the rails~ ~clickety-clack~ ~smashing my pennies~ ~feeding my spirit~ ~cross tie walkin’~ ~pick ‘em up~ ~lay ‘em down~ ~put ‘em in your
pocket~ ~you silly assed
hoary-headed boy~
~wishing & praying
for miracles~ ~is not a waste of
time~ ~it is an investment
in the future~ ~a testament~ ~avowal of faith~ ~maybe a requiem to
lost love~ ~a whispered cry to be
found again~ ~we are the cricket
singing~ ~the coyote howling
lonely for its mate~ ~a tumble-me-down in
giggles~ ~simple & innocent
children of earth~ ~a tender-moment
awaiting a kiss to seal~ http://queloquepasa.com/wordwulf Inquiries: [email protected] & bar
