Words do leave..

With the wings, they escape my thoughts.

With a coal,they burn my imagination.

With a dagger, they stab my soul.

With a burden, they crumble my hopes.

With a scream, they exit my  veins.

With terror, they make me weak.

With silence, they make me deaf.

Yes, they did leave me.

I love the repetitive sentence structure of this piece, and your word choices are spot on! However, I am a little confused on how the title relates to poem, "when words quit", so far (correct me if I'm wrong) but the words are what are leaving 'with...' and 'they' are what make your life feel difficult and hard, but with the title you are implying that the words are leaving of their own accord. Is that correct? Because if so I fully understand your piece, if not I'm just a bit confused.

The title 'when words quit' shows how they leave me when I want them the most to express myself and with all my attempts with words, I feel miserable as I am unable to write.
