The Great TwitchA Poem by NatalieA poem I wrote after reading All The Kings Men in English class. Its a reference to the Great Twitch and the spider web that Warren talks about in his novel. (Also Warren is a fantastic writer)If life is only Warren’s Twitch Then why can I not scratch this itch? I have a need for something greater Than someone else my navigator. If I am simply a reaction, Why is there so much inaction? I want to catch the ball of life But it pierces like a knife. I lay bleeding and confused About this world to which I’ve been fused. He says the world is a big web That I disturb when out I tread. How long will the slow poison take To numb my mind for my own sake? These thoughts stem not from my own mind But all ideas are intertwined. In a world full of reactions We are solely adaptations. As a people of reflections, We are only imitations. Where’s originality? The Twitch writes off morality. Now what is left when we are done? © 2011 Natalie |
