For a Moment

For a Moment

A Poem by Words of Thunder
"

I wrote this on a sheet of notebook paper, added my email address, and left it on a table at my old university after lunch. I never got a reply...

"

Think on this:

Six billion people on planet Earth.

You are one of these,

Sitting at this table today.

10,000 years ago, I did not know you.

10,000 years from today, I cannot know you.

Yet still " though in the grand scheme

we are but the briefest flicker "

we are together for the instant of reading and comprehension.

Two minds touching over the vastness of eternity and nil.

Enjoy this brief action, reaction;

Newtonian in its simplicity.

For one brief moment, stranger-friend,

We are together, a fleeting contact

In the storms of life.

I wonder who you are.

What a small piece of great intent. Very internal, and definitely more humane than it wants to be.
Some lines felt a slightly a ajar though, especially the second in the second stanza, where a 'won't' or 'still won't would have been more effective.
