Hunger

Hunger

A Poem by anne

This body as a plate.
This body as wondering
what’s left to serve tonight.
Run out of this
and this
and this.

If emptiness ever needed
a definition,
I would take its hands
and lead it to the well
at the bottom of this body,
ask it:

What do you know
about hunger,
my dear?

And it would laugh,
it would laugh,
it would clear its throat
and answer:

You shouldn’t have asked.

Wow. This whole time I am wondering what "it" is. Is "it" supposed to be lust? Great poems leave readers thinking and you got me thinking...lol

Welocme!!!!!
Oh wow, this has an intensity to it.This isn't much of a topic I can relate to, but I know of the pain it brings. I absolutely love the personification you brought to this.
