A Quiet TownA Poem by Yusra ArubA pantoum I wrote a while ago..Let me know what you think!Sunlight danced in meadows clear, Bustling markets, busy streets, The air was strange, a little queer, But on continued the hurrying feet. Bustling markets, busy streets" The ground began to shake, On continued the hurrying feet, Would they escape this vicious quake? The ground began to shake, Vesuvius roared in pain, “You can’t escape my vicious quake!” And hot ashes down did rain. Vesuvius roared in pain, And the sky was stormy and gray. Hot ashes down did rain, On the bustling town, Pompeii. The sky, stormy and gray, The air, strange, a little queer, Smothered the bustling town, Pompeii, Where sunlight danced in meadows clear. © 2016 Yusra Arub |
