Thinking Out LoudA Poem by Yusra ArubI threw these random thoughts together at 2 A.M. when I couldn't sleep
The rain did not cease to pour,
We celebrated more and more. But then the sky refused to speak, And left us to our future, bleak. The sunshine did not cease to glow, Even through the cyclone and the snow. It's summer heat beat us down, And continued to dance on the burning ground. The evenings come, but they never go, Imprinted in our minds--like the things we know, Like the memories that we hold so dear, And never forget through our passing years. The night time brought us shining stars, That glowed from here and from afar. Illuminated the darkness in which we slept, Where fairies hide and Secrets are kept. The passing days and nights--they came, of course they went, but never same. They brought us new hopes, new smiles and tears. Brought us closer to our fears. But you were not here from the start, In fact, you came much later to my heart. Like the years when we pleaded for rain and storm, And the sky agreed. Raindrops did form. You changed something in me, and if I knew, Then I would gladly tell it all to you. But sadness is slowly conquering, While happiness is aimlessly wandering. Time is running, running away, Before I can finish what I want to say. Why does it want to leave so fast, Look toward the future, and forget the past? Questions continue to come to mind, But answers are even harder to find. Hold my hand, let's embark on a quest and awaken the answers that were put to rest. Although it is hard to leave you be, I hope that you may always remember me. Or at least a girl that made you feel Somewhat important, somehow real. But I do not think that I have made the impact that I have claimed. At least I know I can not forget you. I hope you feel the same about me, too? Thank you for everything that you've done, My smile, my memories, my only one.
