Summer is

Summer is

A Poem by words a la carte
"

What is summer?

"
Summer is...
The mossy smell of a lake
Cheeks reddened from the wind and sun
The way the sun turns water into diamonds
The squeak of shifting leather.

Summer is...
The soft hum of conversation
The smell of hard boiled eggs
The harsh sting of a sunburn
The flip-flop of a fish caught on my line.

Summer is...
The hum of a van's tires on the road
Singing too loudly with the radio
Cramped legs and tired muscles
A hot day fading into a cool night.

Summer is...
The loud splash of a canon ball in the pool
The disappointment of a wet towel
A book warmed by the sun
and the warm welcoming arms of a family member.
