Yesterday

Yesterday

A Poem by wordman

Hold back the years

hold back time

how many new wrinkles

can i find .

Oh how i long for yesterday

i can remember running barefoot

down a dirt road just after a rain

stepping in the puddles.

I can remember the warm water

on my feet,flying kites,riding

a bus for the first time.

Going to a saturday matinee

watching two or three movies

staying all day.

A golden glove boxer, a basketball star,

Oh but those days seem so far.,

But i long to be there again

just once more before the end.

oh how i long for yesterday...

A good solid poem with feeling woven all through. Well done! --- On another note; do you write reflection on song titles of the past? I see many of them among your poem lists.

I do also long to be there again, in yesterday, those relaxing days....those puddle jumping..rainbow chasing...happy mingling with friends...those childhood dreams.I so long for those days.

lol,my old age kicking in i guess,,thanks
This poem is one, beautiful, musical adventure. The way you describe everything is gorgeous, the imagery perfect and spot on. I especially loved the second stanza! Running away in rain puddles- that's genius.

Its good to look back on those happy, carefree and simple life. But the only constant in this world is change.

yes but tomorrow will be yesterdays memories
thank you
Yesterday seemed like every day was a play day, and play you did.
I blame responsibility and time for changing that.
Sort of feel sorry for youngsters today, they just don't seem to have any imagination to play.

of course they do,we buy them
I liked yesterday better than today...
And all that you speak of here...those were the days we did those things.
no longer safe to walk barefoot...too much glass, and clutter and other dangers.
we have to keep our feet covered and our doors locked.
I want the days of reckless abandon and feeling like tomorrow will come, I want those days again.
really like this piece, Wordman.
