I always admire the sincerity, humility and simple tone of your poems. I can hear Alan Jackson or one of the true country artists singing this in a dim concert hall, just his voice, a guitar and a white halo around his wood stool. Sure, Elton John, but I'd prefer the country version of this one. Another enjoyable work.
I was attracted to your title because I remember Johnny Cash singing: "If I were a carpenter and you were a lady, would you marry me anyway, would you have my baby..." I like that "if I were a carpenter" means that you would build a cabin in the sky where eagles soar and we never die. That's a beautiful thought.

I like the honesty of this. It somehow strikes on a deep level that flowery prose couldn't hit. Simplicity is the greatest form of beauty (in my opinion.) A wonderful poem.
