Last Train to Georgia

Last Train to Georgia

A Poem by wordman
"

"
Last train to Georgia
do i board
or stay here with you
i need someone to tell me what to do

I don`t know any more
i really don`t know how i feel
was it ever love
was it ever real

I am confused
in my own mind
you have run me down so much
i think i`m blind

I really don`t know
who i am anymore
i`m afraid to make a decision
i`m really not sure

Would it really be me
it seems i was a different person years ago
but it`s been so long
i really don`t know

If i board
or if i stay
would it be the right decision
if i made it today

How much longer can i wait
the train is boarding at the gate
not sure who i am anymore
it may already be to late...

You're describing the mindset of the type of person I've known often in my life. The kind that wants someone else to make a definitive move or decision, so he/she can let go of the reins of his/her life, giving control over to the other person . . . that way, if it doesn't turn out good, someone else can be blamed. I read your poem while a wave of recognition washes over me, reminding me of experiences exactly like this & how they usually turn out. Your message is very true-to-life & full of vivid honest observations. Standing by the train, hoping someone will stop him/her. I like the tie-in to this song, too.

That's an awesome comment & my heart swells (((HUGS)))
Reading this with that wonderful song in the background was something next to Heaven. I love the sincere sentiments expressed in this poem. It holds universal truths and doubt/insecurities which I believe most people face at times in their lives. So simply and exquisitely done.

At one point in my marriage, I packed my suitcase so many times I wore it out without ever going out the door. I never quite made the decision to go back to "Georgia" but now of course I'm glad I didn't.

thank you taylor for the great review,i appreciate it.
Great music from my generation. I only ever drove across the tip of Georgia a couple of times, but this song plus Brook Benton's "Rainy Night in Georgia" forever color my thoughts on it. Thanks for the memories.

thank you for the visit samuel,i thought about you yesterday and your great stories.
Until you know your own heart and know your mind and love yourself, others in your life will not help. Especially those that only take and never give true love in return.

Nice work and well penned young man.

You words really do justice to just how "worn down" this person really is. I really like this :)

What an agonizing decision to make off into the unknown. I enjoyed reading your poem. Mid night train to Georgia fit in nicely.
