Got To Be Free

I have searched for god,

and he has searched for me.

I`ve been searching,

searching to be free.

Like a bird, on a wire,

like a log, on a fire.

smoke rising like me,

just trying to be free.

And satan,

riding my back.

tossing me to and fro,

looking for a place  

my soul can go .

But can`t you see,

I`m like the smoke

rising from the fire,

I just got to be free...

I like this. It evokes memories of a time, feeling so confined, constricted. Like the world is literally closing in. Moments like that, can make one wonder, how can God not find me? It can feel as though, being put under a magnifying glass. Hoping the scorching sun would turn us into smoke. Just to dissipate then disappear. Haha But that was just a phase. God is bigger than our minds, can ever comprehend, and He is always with us, even when we feel like giving up. Love this poem.
