There are some really deep lines in this. My favorites are "they say a broken heart / will mend in time / But time has stood still / since you said goodbye" and the part about men not being "supposed" to cry, but doing so. Very tender emotion in such a simple piece. Nice work!

I like the simplicity of expression here, relatable & straightforward. I think it often feels this way from afar. From our insecure viewpoint, it seems the "ex" is doing fine, moving on, not missing us. But there's probably equal missing & longing on both sides. Or sometimes a person slams the door shut overly quickly & harshly to smash any possibility of missing & longing . . . so we interpret this as in your message here. I love Vince Gill's singing, guitar playing, & his entire body of work.
