Sinners prayer

Peace in my heart

gentleness in my soul

these are things

that I do not know

My heart is growing cold

my body is growing old

I`ve only done what I was

taught to do,i never took

the time to talk to you

but now I`m older and wiser

I can see that time moves so fast

lord you know there's nothing

I can do about the past

But lord,if you will look down

at this old fool once again

and if you will forgive me

of my sin

I will try lord

I will try once again

you know lord I have always`s

wanted to call you my friend

but I never invited you in,

I never accepted you as a friend

I have been down every dead end street

made every mistake a sinner could make

but I hope lord it`s not to late

so lord I have come home to stay

I pray you wont turn me away...

I honestly didn't think I would be close to God, always believed in Him but because of all the crap I've been through, ESP when I was a kid, I thought He didn't care. Last March I at the end of my rope, I planned to kill myself. But a couple days before I planned to do anything I found myself breaking down and going to Him and He saved me that night. I'm still stocked by it.

And yea I believe the same thing.

I have felt that way many times you can see it in my poem a single tear
we are tested a lot he wants to know if we love him for who he is or for our comforts
he wants us to give him praise in the bad times he is a jealous god he wants to be first in our life
and most people don`t go to him until it is there last hope and now he has showed you him self he has spoken to me 3 times I had a vision a couple years ago when peter placed a vase in my right hand still don`t know what it is for but I will

Hi Workman: I have read very little poetry so I really don't feel qualified to comment, but if you just want an inexperienced, average person's reaction, here goes. First, I like the poem and can identify with the perspective of reaching middle age and beyond with regrets about the past. The only line I felt was a little weaker was "older and wiser". To me that stood out as a litle cliche while the rest of your language is original and coming from the authentic "you."
