Sinners prayer

Peace in my heart

gentleness in my soul

these are things

that I do not know

My heart is growing cold

my body is growing old

I`ve only done what I was

taught to do,i never took

the time to talk to you

but now I`m older and wiser

I can see that time moves so fast

lord you know there's nothing

I can do about the past

But lord,if you will look down

at this old fool once again

and if you will forgive me

of my sin

I will try lord

I will try once again

you know lord I have always`s

wanted to call you my friend

but I never invited you in,

I never accepted you as a friend

I have been down every dead end street

made every mistake a sinner could make

but I hope lord it`s not to late

so lord I have come home to stay

I pray you wont turn me away...

I liked the poem because of the way it progressed stanza to stanza. The words used were styled to meet the common people. The words were clear and functional. The message was clear! The vocal accompaniment made it so much better!

I really truly like this narrative poem. It's beautiful to just put things in front of God. It also is a glimpse into someone who has not truly accepted Grace yet. Still vulnerable in his belief and that is real! Even people dtrong in the faith sometimes foubt. Im glad I stopped by-Jan

We all struggle with it from time to time. I think its your last line that got me. He doesn't turn anyone away. .ever. This poem is enough...you've asked. .the slate is clean..You're good with Him as soon as you accept it. We fight Grace all to pften when it should wash over like a wave..that leaves us clean.

Either could true but it can be a day to day thing. I was raised with a strong faith but there are things Ive done that I've asked forgiveness for that still c ome back to haunt
