lets pretend

lets pretend

A Poem by wordman
"

a man still in love with the one he lost

"

I know you loved me

a long time ago

but I know its him

tonight you hold

when you close your eyes

let it be me that you see

pretend your still in love

with me

and when you kiss

and hold him tight

pretend its me your with tonight

my heart wont let you go

I still pretend that you

love me so

when I go to bed

with her tonight I will

pretend its you im holding tight

I still love you

I want you to know

my heart just wont let go

so tonight

it will be you I see

when shes making love

to me...

'lets pretend'
wordman,
Memories are a gauge of where we stand and if we should even be involved with someone. I felt like this was an example of the tendency seen in people to fill up the emptiness. 'On the rebound' as the saying goes and somehow it doesn't seem to always work real well. Sad and very transparent in your description of a lost heart looking and waiting and hoping.
Blessings,
Kathy

Full of heartbreak and hurt and desperation in every line. Nice piece of sad poetry in lyrics.

The poem, like a country song. Remembering faces with another near. Some people, we cannot forget. Thank you my friend for sharing the excellent poetry. I liked this one.

thank you for the visit
When you lose the one you love to another, but find it hard to move on. Even though you find someone else. Is not always easy to do. As in your heart and mind. They are etched upon it. Even in intimate moments with the new lover. Poignant, reflective, interesting and so very true. Ron. You just can't help who you love and want.

you are right,,thanks
Very painful when one is not with the one they love. I couldn't stay, accepting that. Powerful words, indeed.

This must be the most painful thing in life.
Living with someone but seeing someone else.
Everyday burning up inside.
Pure heartache.
