When The End Comes

When The End Comes

A Poem by Erin Sky
"

humans are wrecking the planet quite quickly, but maybe our destruction will not be our own fault.

"

when the tornadoes come

ringing bells in her rainstorm

when the stones come

flying fiery in the radiation

when the stars come

glittering against her eyes

when the people come

chanting into the void

when the trees come

standing wooden, wise, and dumb

when the ships come

combusting, now a glitter against the stars

when the waters come

rushing to shores

when the creatures come

galloping from prison into prison

when the cities come

panicking in this predestined night

when the rulers come

weeping for their power

when the steeples come

tumbling to earth, wedged against the stars

when the stones come

flying against her eyes

when the tornadoes come

ringing bells in her rainstorm

Liked this piece. I'm always hungry for a good piece of poetry. I loved the different words put together, and what sounds and images you imagined for each of the nouns...when the tornadoes come etc.
