What Do Turtles Do?

Just a random thought that moseyed into my head on the way home from work today.

               What Do Turtles Do?

I ask myself what do they do,

These turtles of dark green and blue.

Do any of them have a job?

Just that one there, his name is Bob.

He watches turtle children play

And keeps them safe all through the day

From earthworm feet and tadpole claws,

From eel elbows and crayfish jaws.

If he could speak, I'm sure he'd say

Oh what a way to spend the day!

I can't help myself - sometimes I just have to let the words leak out.
