Salieri

Salieri

A Poem by Joel M Frye
"

No deep hidden meaning or confessional this time, folks...just a contest about Mozart's death that piqued my interest.

"
Oh why, Signore, would you curse me so
with gift enough to write in monochrome
and know the rainbow when it bursts before
my jaded vision? Heart as cold as stone
for you, my Father, whom I loved so deep
that I gave every ounce of praise within
each song, each symphony I wrote to keep
my soul forever Yours. I must have been
remiss somewhere, my Lord, that you'd bestow
outpouring melodies to this small twit.
I'm good enough, but he is great; I know
my star will fade, by his bright sun eclipsed.
I bid him write his Requiem, the piece
to bring his soul or mine to its release.
