Come, rest your weary body

Come, rest your weary body

A Poem by Joel M Frye
"

So many of my poetic friends share the uncertain gift of insomnia with me.

"
Come, rest your weary body in my arms;
your tattered thoughts rewoven as you sleep.
My spirit wrapped around you, safe and warm.

Cradled up against me, held from harm,
your dreams are free in slumber, still and deep.
Come, rest your weary body in my arms.

Your childlike face protected from the storm
of daily waking nightmares: I will keep
my spirit wrapped around you, safe and warm.

Seductive demons, stealthy in their charms
may bring a restless stirring as they creep;
come, rest your weary body in my arms.

Should you be stung awake by buzzing swarms
of memories, strafing you until you weep,
my spirit's wrapped around you, safe and warm.

The day-to-day may fill you with alarm;
let night sow gentle comfort you may reap.
Come, rest your weary body in my arms;
my spirit wrapped around you, safe and warm.

I loved the warmth that this poem brought inside of me. I never have problems with falling asleep, but ohhh boy do I have nightmares.. safe arms, that will lead my ship in soothing waters that promise to keep my demons away? heck yeah! I want that!! :)

As are you, dear heart. Thank you.
An excellent poem with the feeling of the 19th century romantics, Keats maybe, a poem
of quality, well done.

Welcome :)
This reminds me so much of our conversation the other day.. I found pain and comfort in the thoughts we shared.. just like in this write.. Sometimes it's the trust and safety of those arms that we finally breathe and rest and heal in peace..xo

. monsieur joel, you're a magician ... until a few hours ago, i was one of the 62 crore people across 20 states and 2 union territories in india ... who suffered the world's worst blackout ... reading your words is like therapy ... insomnia does visit me sometimes ... but after yesterday's blackout across 9 states and today's blackout, i am so scared to sleep and wake up without electricity ... that i really, really needed these words ... i wish i could send them to each one of those people who suffered yesterday and today and are feeling afraid if tomorrow will be dark too ... thank you so much for this post ... i'll get some sleep now ... and even if there's no electricity tomorrow ... i'll remember them and feel grateful for them and smile :) ...
